CreateRemoteThread Failed: 8

Bulletin: 120507

Software Effected:
ServerMigrator, Resemble, PasswordCopy

Issue:
When running the “Convert Local Users and Groups to Domain Accounts” function, I always receive the following errors:

Password Process -- No Password Information to Process

It also displays a command prompt with an error message relating to copypassword, stating “CreateRemoteThread failed: 8”

The outcome is that all the local users are created on the domain as domain accounts, however none of the passwords are copied.

Solution:
CreateRemoteThread failed: 8 is a permissions issue. Any Winzero software that utilizes the passwordcopy function will fail if the software is installed through a MS Terminal Server Client.

You can not install ServerMigrator 2007, PasswordCopy or any Resemble product using a MS Terminal Server session. Once you install the software directly on the computer you can use MS Terminal Server Client or Remote Desktop to remotely run the application.

Saving Multiple Folder Tree Reports

Bulletin: 120407

Software Effected:
AccessReporter

Issue:
I currently have a number of folder trees saved for a report I ran in AccessReporter, but now I am required to run a report that will involve an entirely new list of folder trees. However, I don't want to lose my original list. How can I save this list and start a new list? Or Is there a way to generate a report from specific items in the report tree?

Solution:
At this moment saving folder tree structures or importing saved structures canot be done with AccessReporter.
However, This is a great idea that will be put into the next update of AccessReporter.

In the meantime, you can save folder tree structures or share lists manually:

Folders Tree:
In the working directory Drive:\Winzero\AccessReporter\ there is a file called control.ini
Just rename the this file and create a new blank control.ini file. Then start AccessReporterand add the new folder trees that you need.
AccessReporter uses this file to store the folder tree report options.

Control.ini is layed out as:
\\ServerName\Driveshare$\Folder
With one entry per line

Share Options:
The share report works the same way using the scontrol.ini file
Scontrol.ini is layed out as:
\\ServerName\ShareName
with one entry per line

The save and import saved feature will be added to the next version of AccessReporter v2.04
